Denmark aims to be at the forefront of the green transition, and CO2 storage consitutes a significant part of the tasks to be accomplished in the near future.
This implies that the CO2 storage licenses are to be awarded as soon as possible - ensuring that the storage applications are technically sound and that the evaluation process is transparent.
The vision for the project co2portal.dk is to provide a communication platform for speeding up the process of application and evaluation of the CO2 storage storage applications:
- The authorities will be able to evaluate the license applications using a structured workflow with a well-defined set of success criteria, and to communicate possible constraints (e.g.. due to pressure interference) to the applicants.
- The storage operators will have an option to refine their applications (e.g. by uploading their reservoir models) to avoid competition with other potential users of the subsurface.
- A straightforward and user-friendly interface will facilitate the communication on various aspects of CO2 storage to the general public.
